Contact your Senator to Support Aid to Refugees
November 18, 2015 – David Hahn
There has been a lot of discussion recently over refugees from conflicts in the Middle East. As a nation of immigrants, we should be proud to accept those seeking relief from violence.
Earlier today, we learned that Senator David Vitter of Louisiana is planning to introduce a bill that would immediately cut off all aid to Syrian refugees. We urge you to contact your senator and urge them to oppose such a measure. We’ll make it easy for you:

You can even use the following suggested script:
“Dear Senator,
As one of your constituents, I am concerned about the increasing anti-refugee sentiments that are sweeping our nation.
My heart goes out to the people of Paris in this time of tragedy, as well as to the millions of Syrian refugees who are fleeing the exact same terror which unfolded on the streets of Paris. As we seek to respond to these attacks, we must remember that America has always been a global humanitarian leader and protector of refugees and asylum seekers from around the world who are fleeing extreme violence.
I urge you to continue to protect Syrian and indeed all refugees. Some lawmakers have proposed restricting our U.S. refugee resettlement program. I ask you to oppose any such proposals. Our resettlement program submits refugees to the most rigorous screening process of anyone who comes to the United States. Finally, I urge you to demonstrate leadership by supporting the U.S. refugee resettlement program and urging the resettlement of at least 200,000 refugees in the current fiscal year, including 100,000 Syrian refugees.”
Thank you.
